Chapter 1: Quick Money
The young bodybuilder showed up at the clinic in response to an ad posted in several bars in a seedy part of town. The ad was clear enough: “$100 for participating in clinical trial. Very safe, medical supervision.”
The young bodybuilder was 25, a big guy, down on his luck and needing money. The prospect of a quick $100 was very appealing, since the rent on his one-room apartment was coming up. The address on the ad was in a run-down, almost abandoned building near the river. He parked and locked his Harley behind the building. He was dressed in ultratight faded jeans, with holes and slashes all over, high laced leather boots, athletic muscle T, and heavy leather bike jacket. He had thick, sensuous blond hair and cornflower blue eyes. Handsome, muscular, hunky.
The office number was on the third floor. He climbed the dimly lit stairwell, found the room number, knocked on the door, and went in. Behind the desk was a muscular man dressed in white scrubs. The man was maybe 40 or so and rose as the young bodybuilder entered. “Hi! I’m Doctor Payne, Richard Payne. You’re here for the clinical trial?” the man asked, extending his hand for a handshake.
“Yes, Doctor,” the young bodybuilder said, returning the handshake. “When do I get the $100?”
“Ha! Not so fast, boy!” the man laughed. “First I need some background information, and I have to explain what the trial is all about. After that, you decide if you want to do it or not. Then you get your money,” he added.
“OK, OK,” the young bodybuilder said.
“Let’s get started, then. Sit down in the chair,” the doctor ordered. The doctor had a clipboard with a form on it. He took a pen out of his white scrub top pocket and asked the young bodybuilder a series of health-related questions.
The young bodybuilder’s name was Brick Henderson. He was in very good health, no obvious diseases – and very desperate for the money. The doctor then described the clinical trial: “The test is very simple. My lab at the hospital has developed several new muscle control agents we need to try out. The drugs have performed very well in the initial testing, and now we need to expand the tests to get more information. The test will take a few hours. You might get a headache or maybe slight nausea in your stomach, but nothing severe,” he added.
“Do you do the testing here?” Brick asked.
“Yup. Right in the next room,” the doctor responded, indicating a door to Brick’s left.
“OK, count me in. Now do I get the money?” Brick asked. “Yup again,” the doctor said. He took out his wallet and peeled off five $20 bills and gave it to the eager young bodybuilder. “Thanks, doc. Now, what do I have to do?” he asked. “Just go into that room, strip off all your clothes, and wait for me there,” the doctor said.
Brick got up and went into the next room. He left the door open while he looked around. There was a standard examination couch, covered in worn blue vinyl, cracked in a lot of places. Brick was surprised to see several heavy leather belts hanging from the sides of the couch. There was a chair, a small sink, and a small writing desk. On the desktop were several bottles of liquid, a box of syringes, and an open container with alcohol swabs.
The strapping young man put the money in a pocket and took off his all clothes, following the doctor;s orders. The heavy biker boots were first; he wore no socks. He saw a metal clothes tree in a corner and hung up his jacket, shirt and jeans. Like most young bodybuilders, he didn’t wear any briefs under the tight jeans. They like to show off their equipment, especially with a good hard on. He was now naked and looked around for the standard hospital smock. Seeing none, however, he sat down on the examination bench to wait for the doctor.
